The purpose of each Technical Committee shall be to manage the technical relationship of the Society in their area of interest by identifying, organizing, participating in, and supporting activities in which the Society can give and/or receive technical benefit in product safety and compliance.

The scope of IT Technical Committee is all issues of product safety and regulatory compliance related to Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment. ITTC meets on the third Monday of the month, teleconference is normal meeting method.

Activites of Technical Committees

  • IDENTIFY – identify the potential audience and establish a communication link with them.
  • EVALUATE – evaluate the need and opportunity for technical activities within their technical area.
  • DEVELOP – develop the technical material flow to and from their area.
  • PROMOTE – promote the growth and value of the PSES to their subject audience.
  • REPORT – report back to the PSES on the activities in their area.

Technical Committees

Important Information

Each Technical Committee shall consist of all persons relevant to the field with which the Committee is able to establish a permanent communication link, which the member has approved, and for whom they know (at a minimum), the member’s name, general location, and an email address.

Committee members do not need to be members of the IEEE or PSES. The leadership of the committee shall consist of a convenient number of those committee members (8 to 12 seems ideal) that show sufficient interest to participate in periodic scheduled telephone conference calls held for the purpose of guiding and directing the committee.

The officers of the committee shall be a Chair, who shall be a member of the PSES at the time of selection; a Vice-chair, who shall be or immediately become a member of the PSES, a Secretary, and a Communications Manager. Duties of the Chair, Vice-chair, and Secretary shall be those generally consistent with the titles; and for the Communications Manager, to establish and maintain the means to communicate with the committee members, be it web page, social media, email list, etc. The officers shall be from diverse locations and companies.

  • Must have a clearly defined field of interest that is as broad as possible and relevant to Product Safety and Compliance, but not conflicting with others.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 people who are committed and active and from diverse companies and geographical areas.
  • At least one person must be a member of PSES and a second must commit to becoming a member.
  • Development of technical materials – papers, presentations, articles, talks, etc. – for the PSES conference, local meetings, newsletter, publications, and for presentation to other societies.
  • Provide peer review of submissions as necessary.
  • Identify and develop PSES promotional opportunities in technical area – cosponsor symposia or trade shows, man booths, etc.
  • Identify and promote PSES membership in their technical area – develop email list of peers and promote PSES name and activities to them.
  • Identify potential advertisers and vendors in their technical area. Identify other technical activities unique to their technical area.
  • Identify potential product safety research topics in their area.
  • Identify and develop joint activities of the PSES with their organization – cosponsor symposia, sponsor product safety workshops, man booths, etc.
  • Identify areas of joint technical material development. Identify materials for republication in PSES and develop new materials for joint publication.
  • Give a presentation on the product safety activities within their technical area at the PSES annual symposium.

Technical
Liasons

The PSES desires to establish relationships with other organizations (both internal and external to the IEEE) involved in product safety and compliance, their technical committees, and their standards writing groups. All Technical Liaisons (also known as TLs) shall be approved by the PSES Board of Governors. Interim appointments may be made subject to Board approval.

The purpose of each Technical Liaison shall be to represent and assist the PSES Board of Governors to manage the technical relationship of the Society with the reference organization; to identify and develop potential members from the organization; and to participate in, support, and report on activities in which the Society can give and/or receive technical benefit in product safety and compliance.

  • IDENTIFY – identify the leadership or members of the organization and establish a communication link with them.
  • EVALUATE – evaluate the need and opportunity for technical activities with the organization.
  • DEVELOP – develop the technical material flow to and from thethe organization.
  • PROMOTE – promote the growth and value of the PSES to the organization.
  • REPORT – report back to the PSES on the activities of the organization.

To become a TL, you must be

  • A member of PSES
  • A member of or a participant with the subject organization
  • Approved by the PSES Board of Governors
